A visit is worthwhile on monument days, when demonstrations of old equipment and techniques take place.
Since the opening of the Heimatstube Ahlum in June 2007, many visitors have always assumed that they would find a parlor. However, this is not the case. Visitors are often amazed when they see what the hundred-year-old machine hall now conceals. From threshing machines to entire craft units such as bakeries, carpentry and shoemaking, as well as old painting tools. There is even evidence of the village tavern and the food trade. There are also old agricultural tools and well-stocked cupboards and display cabinets with things from everyday life, including old toys. Much of it comes authentically from Ahlum. In addition to many all-day events such as museum and monument days, piano evenings, special exhibitions with demonstrations such as spinning, old embroidery techniques, pottery with children, a sugar bowl exhibition with 800 pieces, school lessons, a Christmas market with a performance by the Ahlum village theater, Christmas carol singing and a baking day have taken place and will continue to do so in the future. The "Friends of the Ahlum Heimatstube" association, which was founded right from the start, endeavors to maintain Kurt Sielemann's founding idea and preserve the spirit of "Ahlum - a village through the ages".
