Operetta in three acts by Leo Fall | Libretto by Rudolf Schanzer and Ernst Welisch
With Leo Fall's lively operetta "Madame Pompadour", the Harztheater brings a mixture of charm, wit and rousing music to the stage. The play transports us to the dazzling Paris of the 18th century, where politics and passion intertwine in an amusing way. The focus is on the clever and seductive Madame Pompadour, who is not only the mistress of King Louis XV, but also a woman of power and influence. Traveling incognito in Paris, she gets caught up in turbulent entanglements when she meets Lieutenant René, who captures her heart in an unexpected way. But between amorous adventures and political intrigues, they both have to assert their feelings against social conventions.
Catchy waltzes, charming couplets and romantic melodies lend the operetta lightness and esprit. "Madame Pompadour" is a feast for all the senses - a tribute to the joie de vivre and splendor of times gone by. A production full of humor, passion and musical enjoyment.
